How to get your Google review link and turn it into a QR code
Every Google Business Profile has a short link that opens its review box. Put it in a QR code on the counter and a customer can leave a review in the time it takes to pay. Here is how to do it for free.
Updated October 23, 2026
Step 1: find your review link
- Sign in to the Google account that manages your Business Profile.
- Search Google for your business name. Your profile's management panel appears above or beside the results.
- Choose the option for asking for reviews (Google has called it “Ask for reviews” and “Get more reviews”; the exact words change from time to time).
- Copy the short link it shows you. That link opens your review box directly.
Open the link on your own phone once to check it lands on your shop, not another one with a similar name.
Step 2: turn it into a QR code
Any QR code maker will turn a link into a code. Two things to watch for:
- Make a “static” code from the link itself. Some sites make a code that points to their own short link and forwards from there. If that site closes or starts charging, every printed card stops working.
- Test it before printing. Scan it with an iPhone and an Android phone, from the distance a customer will be standing.
Step 3: put it where customers wait
- On the counter, facing the customer, where they stand to pay or pick up.
- On the receipt or invoice, as the code or as the link printed out.
- In a text or email, as the plain link, since nobody can scan a code on their own screen.
Keep the words on the card short and the same for everyone: “Thanks for coming in. Would you leave us a review on Google? Scan with your phone camera.” Don't ask for five stars and don't offer anything for it. More on that in how to get more Google reviews.
The shortcut
The free route above works fine. If you'd rather not do it by hand, KILLCRITIC reads your review link straight from your connected Google profile and gives you a printable 4 × 6 inch counter card with the QR code, plus the same link and wording ready to copy for receipts and texts. It's included with every account.
Common questions
Does a Google review link expire?
The short link Google gives you for your own profile is meant to keep working. What does expire is a QR code made on a site that sends scans through its own redirect and later switches it off, so make the code from the link itself and test it before you print.
Is it allowed to put a QR code for reviews on the counter?
Yes. Asking customers for a review is fine. What isn't allowed is offering something in return, or showing the code only to customers you think are happy. One card, for everyone.
